Mother's Day to Brunch or Not To Brunch

Mother's Day to Brunch or Not To Brunch

Mother’s  Day, Father’s Day and graduation season is almost upon us.  It's that time of year when we all start to peek our heads outside and the birds are chirping, the sun is shining and it’s time to gather and celebrate.  But wait!  Now you’re panicking because you want the food and decor to be top notch.  How am I decorating and what am I serving?  This month I’m starting to gather together some great tablescapes ideas and recipes for the upcoming events in my life.

First up for me is Mother’s Day -  As a mother of 3 myself, I shouldn’t be doing a darn thing.  But since I do have a mom, a mother-in-law and a grandmother; I think it would be a great idea to host a family Mother’s Day brunch.  One of the things I like to do is plan my decor first, not because you should do your decor first but that’s just the first place my mind always goes.  Then the food…yummmmmmmmmm.

Brunch can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be.  You can keep it simple by getting some bagels and croissants, pre-cut fruit  from the supermarket and put together a charcuterie board. Or you can add some signature brunch dishes like shrimp and grits, Challah french toast and things of that nature.

Mimosa’s are a brunch staple but feel free to add any signature cocktail you wish.  Once you get your food situated and your cocktails are set then weather permitting  you can set up your buffet table outdoors.
